The Knoxville Police Department is attempting to locate the driver who fled the scene of a fatal single-car crash that happened on Tuesday night.

At just before 8:30 p.m. on Tuesday, September 1, KPD officers responded to a crash around Boyds Bridge Pike and Andes Road, where a black Dodge sedan had crashed off the road. A 24-year-old woman who was a passenger in the vehicle was found unresponsive at the scene. The victim was transported to the UT Medical Center, where she was pronounced dead a short time later.

The preliminary investigation determined that the Dodge was speeding west on Boyds Bridge Pike and attempting to pass another vehicle when the driver lost control, the vehicle left the road and crashed into two different poles. Evidence on scene suggests that alcohol was possibly a contributing factor.

The suspected driver left the scene prior to officer arrival. A witness reported seeing a man flee from the vehicle into nearby woods after the crash. Responding officers saturated the area and attempted to locate the man but were unsuccessful.

Continued investigation at the scene and following the crash identified Marlon Jiminez-Galo, 25 of Knoxville, as the suspect. Warrants have been placed on file charging Jiminez-Galo with vehicular homicide, leaving the scene of an accident and driving without a license.  

Officers were unable to find Jiminez-Galo after checking multiple possible addresses last night, and efforts to locate him remain ongoing.
